Two Weeks

Daddy started teaching this week, so Grandma Helvey came to stay the week with us. She was a huge help!

One Week

Naomi is growing and changing and stealing our hearts more every day. She was one ounce shy of her birth weight at her one-week weigh-in.

Thelma and Louise

Uncle Chris, Aunt Kendra, Annamarie and Luke came to meet Naomi, or Nao-name, as Annamarie calls her. They were a huge help to us!

The two youngest cousins on the Schroeder side.

Leading up to the big event...

5:00 AM - a very excited Mommy and Daddy get ready to leave for the hospital

7:15 AM - a still excited, but now nervous, Mommy and Daddy await the operating room

7:30 AM - Daddy puts on his "bunny suit" while Mommy gets prepped for surgery

7:48 AM - It's a girl! Naomi Elizabeth Schroeder announces her arrival with a very loud cry.

A very happy Mommy holding Naomi for the first time

Big sister Evelyn meeting little sister Naomi
Evelyn was very overwhelmed when she first arrived. She wanted nothing to do with Mommy, Daddy or Naomi. Instead, she clung to Grandma and Grandpa. Thankfully, this did not last long. Within the hour, she was holding "Nomers" and suggesting that we change her diaper on the floor.

We were very blessed to have both my parents and Tim's parents with us to celebrate Naomi's arrival!

Our new family of four

Time to go home

Evelyn in the car on the drive home: "Are we going to take her home with us?"
Mommy: "Yes."
Evelyn: "Are we going to bring that yellow hair, also?"
Mommy: "Yes, that will be coming also."
Too sweet!

Grandpa Schroeder snuggling grandchild #9.

Naomi has brought great joy to our lives! She is a very sweet, content baby. She loves to be snuggled. She seems to have her days and nights a bit confused, but hopefully that will improve in time. We thank God for the blessing that she is!

Evelyn decided Naomi needed some toys, too!

Evelyn is adjusting very well to life with Naomi. We have had our share of ups and downs, but she loves her sister very much. It brings us great joy watching Evelyn love on Naomi. She asks for her sister first thing in the morning and as soon as she awakens from her naps. She is also quite the helper. In fact, last week out of the clear blue, she attempted to nurse Naomi. Naomi started crying one evening, and Evie pulled up her shirt and said, "just put her on that belly button right there." Needless to say, there is never a dull moment around here...
